Dr. Paula Fernanda Arévalo Carvajal is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital in the Department of Psychiatry.

She received her M.D Degree from Juan N. Corpas University Foundation (Colombia), her background includes clinical work as a general practitioner with electives in both neurology and psychiatry. This experience provided exposure to various neurological conditions and psychiatric care settings.

Her research focuses on the intersection of neuroscience, psychiatry, and neurology, particularly within neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric conditions. Dr. Arévalo Carvajal also contributed to academic organization as Deputy Director for the I ASCEMCOL International Neuro Research Congress.

Under Dr. Garcia's mentorship, her current work investigates non-invasive vagus nerve stimulation (VNS). Projects include evaluating VNS effects on inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis, its sex-dependent impact on stress response in depression, and its influence on vascular function in myocardial infarction patients.

Dr. Arévalo Carvajal applies her clinical and research foundation to understanding cognitive neuroscience and its relevance to patient health.
